John W. Mauchly(1907-1980)
John W. Mauchly, is an inventor and a physicist. He co-invented the electronic digital computer, his peer was John Eckert, the person who pioneered the multi-use electronic digital computer. He was born August 30th, 1907, in Ohio. However, he lived his early life in Maryland. He got his education at John Hopkins university in 1925. He got a full degree in Physics, from his full scholarship into this school. In 1932 he received his PHD in Physics, an amazing achievement. Since the beginning of his educational career he maintained an interest in electronic engineering. In 1941, he went to a electrical training class where he was taught by John Eckert, the one who he completed the computer with. It was in 1946 where he conducted a team to create a better multi purpose computer. Sort of the one we know today, but today its quicker and more compact.
The National Bureau of standards requested this new group to produce a new computer. Accepting this challenge they created the Universal Automatic Computer, a computer which fills commands, automatically without programming everything, basically binded code. This first computer was commercialized and sold all over the country. This team eventually formed together to make Mauchly Associates, he led a good life, as an important chairman of other businesses involving his hobbies. He died on January 8, 1980, however his contributions will live on.
