Lee Deforest(1873-1961)
Lee DeForest invented the Audion vacuum tube - making live broadcasting radio possible as well as becoming one of the most important parts of all phone, computer, radio and television systems. He was mad about other people stealing his ideas and getting money for them, but despite that, he was considered the grandfather of television and the father of radio.
He wanted to be an inventor from a young age, but his father wanted him to become a minister. During his life he started several radio stations and was one of the first people to broadcast entertainment on the radio. DeForest died at the age of 87 because of a heart attack. He had been healthy most of his life, and worked in his lab right up to his death. Despite being credited with over 300 patents, and considered one of the leading pioneers in wireless connection, he never was able to have the financial repercussions of his accomplishments.
